The India International Jewellery Show (IIJS), now in its 29th year, has continuously evolved as India’s official platform for showcasing India’s manufacturing capabilities. The Council’s overall efforts to uniquely position this Show is reaping huge benefits with participation from more than 800 leading companies from India and overseas. IIJS has proved to be an extremely pleasant and profitable Show for the gem and jewellery industry.
Like last year, IIJS 2012 too has been conferred the ‘India Show’ status by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India. This prestigious accolade is mainly in recognition of the growing stature of the Show as India’s largest international jewellery Show with world-class standards and with an increasing overseas presence. The Government will be shortly launching an international ‘Made in India’ campaign to showcase India’s impressive capabilities in the manufacturing sector, including its potential as a global jewellery hub.
Rightly declared as the ‘India Show’ by the Government of India, IIJS 2010 last year delivered business like never before. The Show was estimated to be Rs 4,000 crores sourcing event and witnessed nearly 33,000 trade visitors which included about 2,500 overseas buyers. The overall visitor footfalls marked a significant 25% increase in comparison to IIJS 2009.
This year, the new exciting features like the Special International Product Gallery and a dedicated section for loose diamonds and coloured gemstones further reiterate India’s manufacturing foothold in the global gems and jewellery arena. |
